I’ve been actively searching for a job as a cashier or in a warehouse, targeting companies like Target, Ross, TJ Maxx, and Walmart. Unfortunately, I’ve faced a string of rejections despite my efforts. I’m looking for advice on how to improve my chances of landing a position, especially since I have little to no experience. I’d appreciate any tips on where else to apply, as well as recommendations for job search sites and apps that could help me in this process.

I just received a rejection from McDonald's for a job I applied for. It feels like a setback, and I'm trying to process it. I thought this could be a good opportunity, but it seems I'm not what they were looking for. It's a bit disheartening, especially when I see other places like Subway prioritizing younger applicants for their future potential. I'm feeling a bit lost right now.

I’m currently pursuing a degree in graphic design and hold a certificate in 3D arts. Despite having school projects and personal work in my portfolio, I’ve been struggling to land a job. I’ve applied to around 10 different positions for graphic design and 3D artist roles over the past 2-3 weeks but haven’t received any responses, not even rejection emails. I’m starting to think that my lack of professional experience is the main reason for this. I’m wondering if there are any companies that hire remotely for entry-level artists like me.

I recently went through the entire interview process for a forward-deployed role at a major tech company. I started with a cold application and made it all the way to the closing call, which felt promising. However, a week later, I received an email stating that they had chosen other candidates. I'm left wondering what factors influence the final decision at this stage. Was it my experience, cultural fit, or perhaps something else entirely? It's frustrating to be so close yet not secure the position.

I recently completed a job hunt that lasted about four months, and I’m really pleased with the outcome! With 4.5 years of experience in a corporate role, I had the luxury of being selective since I was happy in my current position. I ended up rejecting two offers before finally accepting one that felt right for me. My approach was quite strategic: I tailored my CV and cover letter for each application, ensuring I only applied for roles that matched my experience—nothing too junior or too senior. I also took the time to reach out to hiring managers on LinkedIn for roles I was particularly interested in, which helped me gather insights and show my enthusiasm. To enhance my job search, I started a 3-month LinkedIn Premium trial, which allowed me to connect with more people and access profiles easily. Interestingly, all three job offers I received stemmed from employee referrals or connections I had with recruiters or team members from previous applications. Overall, it was a rewarding experience!

I recently started my job search and came across a position that interested me. However, the application process required me to use Snagajob, a platform I hadn't used in years. After logging in and submitting my resume and cover letter, I received a security alert from Gmail indicating an attempted login to my account from an unknown source. This was concerning, especially since it coincided with my application on Snagajob. I've never experienced anything like this before, and I'm starting to wonder if Snagajob might be a risky platform to use. Has anyone else had similar experiences?

I recently applied for an internal position at my healthcare job, where I've been working in the patient support department for four years. I’ve been on 12-hour shifts, which don’t fit well with my school schedule, and I was hoping to switch to an 8-hour shift at a nearby acute care hospital under the same network. My supervisor and manager both verbally supported my transfer, but I received an automated rejection email just 9 hours after applying. I know that the position is still open and hasn’t been filled, so I suspect my application might have been flagged by an automated system. I’m feeling frustrated because I don’t think my resume even reached the hiring manager. I’m looking for advice on how to navigate this situation and possibly get my application reconsidered.

I've been working at my current company for 20 years, and things are looking really bleak. The head office has been vague about the future, and there's a real chance that the site I work at could close down soon. I've seen them shut down other locations in the past and shift employees around, which feels like a tactic to push people to leave without paying proper redundancy. Given the financial situation, I'm worried they might not even have the funds to pay me what I'm owed if I get laid off. In the past few weeks, I've started looking for new job opportunities and have been attending interviews. There's a strong possibility that one of the companies I interviewed with might offer me a position by the end of the week. However, I'm torn because I don’t know if my current company will go under or not. I have accrued a significant amount of holiday time at my current job, and the new position would be a bit of a step back in terms of familiarity, slightly longer commutes, but it offers better pay and a much friendlier work environment that prioritizes employee welfare. Plus, there are opportunities for growth in this new role at a rapidly expanding business. I’m really conflicted about whether to stick it out at my current job, hoping for a payout for my years of service, or to take the plunge and accept the new job. I’d love to hear how others would approach this situation.

I recently learned that a colleague of mine, who has over six years of experience in iOS mobile application development, was laid off back in February. We had a conversation where he mentioned that he's been applying to various positions and going through multiple interviews, but unfortunately, he hasn't progressed to the final round in any of them. This has left me wondering if this is a common issue in the current job market. I'm curious to hear if others are experiencing similar challenges in their job searches.

I am a 30-year-old female working in healthcare who was laid off a few months ago. Since then, I've been actively applying for jobs for nearly 8 months without any offers. I send out at least 10 tailored resumes each day and manage to secure about 5 to 7 interviews monthly. I've even attended job fairs in hopes of finding opportunities. Unfortunately, all I receive are automated rejection emails. The interviews I do manage to clear often end with the disappointing news that they have chosen other candidates for the role. This experience has left me feeling like I've lost my purpose in life, and I am struggling to see any change in my situation. I'm reaching out for suggestions or motivation to help me through this tough time.

I was laid off for the third time in five years, and this time it hit me hard. I worked on the documentation team at a tech company where leadership decided to merge our responsibilities with the PM and engineering teams. It felt like something was off when a PM started sending me their draft articles to copy edit, which was unusual. I went ahead and did it, even publishing them, only to receive the layoff news a week later. Looking back, I realize I overexerted myself, trying to complete a massive workload in a short timeframe, which probably wasn't the smartest decision. Now, I'm left feeling devastated. I have no savings and only two weeks of severance pay to get me by. I'm trying to stay calm and realistic about my next steps. I'm uncertain about pursuing another technical writing role, fearing I might just face another layoff. I'm considering other opportunities but feel overwhelmed by the options. I know I need to apply for unemployment benefits right away and might look into temporary work in AI-related tasks, like prompt drafting or reviewing, as suggested by some comments. I plan to tighten my budget and focus on necessary expenses while I update my resume to make it ATS-friendly. I also need to reach out to friends for referrals and start applying to a maximum of ten high-quality jobs each day. It's a tough situation, but I’m determined to navigate through it.

I recently applied for a position and my application is currently under review. However, I noticed that just 8 days after the original job listing was posted, it was refreshed with a longer title and new responsibilities added. I'm wondering if I should base my interview preparation on the original listing or the updated one. Is this a common occurrence? Did something go wrong with the original posting, or are they possibly consolidating roles? I’m feeling a bit uncertain about the situation and would appreciate any insights.

I recently found myself in a tough spot at my current job as a line cook, feeling pretty miserable. I've worked in various roles, including retail and delivery, but I'm ready for a change. Right now, I'm in the process of interviewing for a delivery job with a local company that I really like. I have a second interview lined up, and since I've done similar work before, I feel confident about it. At the same time, I just applied for a technical support position at a software company where a friend works. It's an entry-level role, and I put a lot of effort into my resume and cover letter, even though my experience doesn't perfectly match the job description. I believe my previous roles have equipped me with the necessary skills. The challenge I'm facing is that I'm nearing the second interview for the delivery job, but I haven't heard back from the software company yet since I just submitted my application. I'm really interested in the technical support position, but I don't want to risk losing the delivery job offer without having a solid answer from the other company. I'm wondering how long I can ask the delivery company to wait while I weigh my options. I know I can communicate with them, but I'm not very experienced in these situations and could use some guidance. I really want to make the right decision without losing out on either opportunity.

After 18 months of job-searching hell, I can finally say it's over. I sent out around 1,000 applications and went through 130 interview rounds. It was a tough journey, especially after dealing with one withdrawn offer. But all the hard work paid off, and I’ve just signed a contract with my dream company!

I'm currently a university student studying Computer Science, and I've been struggling to find a job that fits my schedule. Employers seem to prefer candidates who are available without any restrictions, which has made my search really challenging. As a result, I decided to take a serving job at Olive Garden, but the pay is really low compared to the effort I put in. Now, I'm actively looking for another job that would allow me to transfer to a location closer to my school, Illinois State University (ISU). I'm hoping to find something better soon!

I recently applied for a customer service position at a company called Cranford Auto Repair. I was excited when I got an email from the recruiter inviting me for an interview, but then they asked me to download an app on my computer to book the interview. This raised a red flag for me, and I wanted to check if this is a normal practice. I did some research and found that the name on the building doesn't match what I found online. I couldn't find any reviews on Glassdoor except for the job I applied for. The whole situation feels off, and I'm hesitant to proceed. I’ve been advised by others to avoid downloading anything or clicking on links. Has anyone else experienced something similar?

I was laid off in March 2024 and have been on the job hunt ever since. I've submitted hundreds of applications for Software Engineering, DevOps, and Cloud Technology roles, but the response has been disheartening. Most of the interviews I've managed to get have been brief, lasting only 4 to 5 minutes, and they rarely lead anywhere meaningful. I have nearly 3 years of experience in fintech, working with technologies like Java, XML, Spring Boot, Kubernetes, Azure, and Groovy. My full-stack experience includes JavaScript, Node.js, MongoDB, and Express. To stay sharp, I've been using AI tools like Claude and ChatGPT, and I've even deployed a React application on Netlify and full-stack apps on Heroku while contributing to open source projects. Back in 2021, I was frequently approached by recruiters, and interviews were abundant. However, the job market has changed dramatically since then, and I know I’m not the only one facing this challenge. I’ve been networking actively, attending local tech events, and posting on LinkedIn. I'm also considering opportunities in other states, including North Carolina and Texas. I'm reaching out to the community for advice. What strategies or platforms are working for you in the 2026 tech job market? Any recommendations for roles to explore or connections that could help would be greatly appreciated.

After 16 months of searching, I finally received a job offer! I have a Master’s degree and have been focused on the nonprofit sector while living in a large city on the East Coast. The journey was long and filled with ups and downs, but I stayed persistent and kept applying. I learned a lot about networking and tailored my resume for each position. Excited to start this new chapter!

I recently applied for unemployment benefits after being let go from my job in May. I filled out the necessary forms for my most recent employer, and their statement about my termination seemed accurate. I was let go due to poor performance, but I didn’t break any rules. Now, I’ve received another claimant form from a previous employer where I worked from February to April 2025. Their statement about my termination is quite harsh and includes some inaccuracies. They claim I was hired for a temporary position and that I lacked urgency, skill, and knowledge, often played on my phone, and was not suitable for any permanent role due to my work ethic. They also stated that my negligence could have caused significant issues with clients' tax returns, which I find misleading since I only passed them off for review and didn’t file them myself. I was never warned about my phone usage or my performance; I only received some pointers for improvement. I accidentally agreed to their statements while submitting the form, but I plan to contact the unemployment office to correct my answers. I'm worried that these statements might disqualify me from receiving unemployment benefits. If that’s the case, would I need to file an appeal? Also, is their claim about potential harm accurate, given my actual role in the process?
