I recently applied for a position at a local clinic and had a promising interaction with the clinic manager. After a brief email exchange, she called me the next day, and we had a great 30-minute conversation about the role. She seemed very enthusiastic and we scheduled an interview for two weeks later since she would be on PTO the following week. I felt really positive about the conversation and thought she liked me a lot. However, at 12:53 AM, I received an automated rejection email from their applicant portal stating I wasn’t selected. This was quite confusing since I hadn’t heard anything from her about cancelling our scheduled interview. I decided to send a follow-up email to check on the status of my application and the interview. I’m trying to stay optimistic, but I can’t help but wonder if that rejection email was sent by mistake. Has anyone else experienced something like this during their job search?

I recently lost my job as a pharmacy technician in a clinical setting a few months ago, and I'm feeling a bit lost in my job search. I'm considering going back to retail, but my heart is really set on working in a hospital environment again. I'm not sure how to express my interest in positions effectively, especially since I want to convey my passion for the clinical setting. I'm also planning to re-enroll in my Master's degree program, and I thought about using that as a talking point during interviews, saying I want to work somewhere that intellectually stimulates me while I prepare for school. However, I'm worried that mentioning my plans for school might make employers hesitant, as they might think I won't stay long-term. Additionally, I'm unsure how to explain my gap in employment. I left my last job because the hours were no longer achievable for me, and I wanted to focus on preparing for my education. If anyone has tips on how to navigate this situation or how to express my interest in a way that feels authentic, I would really appreciate it. I've never been let go from a position before, so this is all new territory for me.

I recently experienced a layoff from a major bank where I've worked for over a decade. They just announced around 4,000 layoffs in our NYC office, supposedly to fund AI innovation, yet they insist that the layoffs aren't directly related to AI. It's frustrating, especially since I’m expected to train AI models before I leave. I'm really disappointed with how the management, including my EVP and SVPs, have handled this situation. They didn't acknowledge the news at all; I saw them in the hall and it felt like I was invisible. They held a meeting with the teams but left those of us impacted just sitting at our desks without any support. It's clear that AI is influencing job security, and I wish they would just be honest about it.

I recently attended a virtual job fair, hoping to find some opportunities as I transition into a new career after going back to school. I was surprised to discover that the event seemed to focus exclusively on senior positions, with no entry-level roles available at all. This felt counterproductive to the purpose of job fairs, which I thought was to assist those who are actively seeking jobs, particularly newcomers or those changing careers like myself. None of my friends with significant experience—around 8 to 10 years—were even interested in attending these events, which makes me wonder if they're truly beneficial. I had initially planned to take a contract position overseas with the military after my enlistment, but that fell through due to political issues. I'm curious to hear about others' experiences with job fairs and would appreciate any advice on navigating this challenging job market.

I graduated from college in December 2023 and have been struggling to find a stable job that pays at least $60K. Living in a high cost-of-living area in the U.S. and wanting to stay close to my family makes this even more challenging. So far, I've only managed to secure internships and contract positions, and one company even laid me off right after I finally received benefits after a long series of internships. It's disheartening to see discussions about home affordability when I'm not even close to signing a lease for a $1,500 apartment. This situation has made me feel timid about dating and embarrassed in front of my friends who are more established in their careers. I can't help but feel that no one would want to start a family with someone in my position.

I recently discovered that my former employer provided the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) with a different reason for my termination than what I was originally told. This has left me feeling confused and concerned about my unemployment benefits. Has anyone else experienced something similar? I'm curious to know how this might affect my situation and if there are any steps I should take.

I was laid off on a Saturday morning. My boss called me to deliver the news that the company is struggling financially and that my position was being eliminated. I couldn't believe it; I asked him if he couldn't wait until Monday to tell me, especially since I'm still being paid through the end of the month. Strangely, I feel a sense of relief, like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. This job had been a significant source of stress for me, primarily due to my boss. I hope everyone else in a similar situation is managing okay.

I recently had a conversation with a friend who shared that their team experienced a reduction in staff when two members were let go. This wasn't part of a large-scale layoff, but rather a quiet shift where the remaining team members had their workloads redistributed to "AI-assisted workflows" instead of hiring new people. It got me thinking about the impact of AI on job roles and whether it's genuinely easing workloads or just a way for companies to justify cuts. I’m curious if anyone else has seen similar situations in their workplaces. Has AI actually helped reduce your workload, or has it just increased expectations? From what I've gathered, many people are feeling the pressure to absorb more work without additional hires, and it seems like the trend is leaning towards heightened workloads rather than relief. Some comments I read echoed this sentiment, noting that AI tools often lead to more work rather than less. For instance, one developer mentioned their workload was reduced by 90% thanks to AI, while others pointed out that the AI tools sometimes fail to deliver consistent results, leading to frustration. It seems like there’s a mix of experiences out there. While some find AI helpful for tasks like meeting summaries, others feel overwhelmed as new tools add complexity instead of simplifying their roles. I can’t help but wonder if this is a temporary phase or if we’re witnessing a permanent shift in how teams are structured and staffed.

I was a truck driver, specifically an auto hauler, until late May this year. After undergoing a hip replacement last year and dealing with a work-related injury that resulted in a broken arm, I returned to work in January. Unfortunately, I started experiencing issues with my other hip, which has led me to consider a career change. I’m currently taking legal action regarding my injuries, but I know I need to find a new job soon. Most local trucking jobs involve some physical work, which could exacerbate my condition. I might qualify for disability, but I’m feeling bored and am eager for a change. I hold a bachelor’s degree and have some HR experience, particularly in hiring and recruiting. I’m looking for advice on solid entry-level office jobs that align with my background. I’m open to both in-office and remote positions, as long as the pay is reasonable and there’s potential for growth. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I recently went through the interview process for a marketing role at a mid-sized tech company. I felt really confident after the final interview and was optimistic about my chances. However, I received a rejection email after they conducted a reference check and asked about my availability for the start date. It was disheartening to put so much effort into the process only to be turned down at the last minute. I'm starting to wonder if there's something wrong with my references or if I'm just unlucky in my job search. It's been a frustrating experience, and I can't help but feel a bit cursed in my pursuit of a new position.

Job title: marketing role

I recently faced a tough situation where I was ineligible to receive unemployment benefits in California. Fortunately, I have since secured full-time work. Now, I'm trying to understand if I might be entitled to back pay if I meet the 'bona fide employment requirement.' I believe the 'reasonable employer rule' was broken due to a minor safety violation at my previous job, and I'm hoping this might affect my eligibility for back pay.

Today was one of the hardest days I've faced. I got fired from my new job at a local retail store just two days after being hired. I had been searching for a job for six months, and finally felt a glimmer of hope when I landed this position. I thought I was doing okay, but then my boss called me into her office and told me to go home, removing my name from the schedule for the upcoming week. I felt completely blindsided and devastated. When I asked for reasons, she mentioned she would call me later to discuss next steps, but that just left me feeling more anxious and embarrassed. I have bills piling up and I really need this job to support myself. I’m reaching out for any advice on how to cope with this situation and what steps I should take next.

I was laid off about a month ago and I'm really struggling to cope with the situation. The job market is rough, especially since I moved to a smaller town in 2021 to afford a house. Now, I'm an hour away from any decent job opportunities. I'm considering taking a pay cut and dealing with a 30-minute to 1-hour commute just to find work. I've been ghosted by two interviews, which has been disheartening. On top of that, I got turned down for Medicare, so I can't even see a doctor despite my loss of income. I had no savings because I was living paycheck to paycheck, and now I'm feeling overwhelmed. I have a kid to take care of, which makes everything even more stressful. I keep receiving 4 or 5 rejection emails a day, and the most recent one really set me off. I can't help but feel hopeless about the future, especially with the rise of AI and its potential impact on jobs. I was never aiming to be rich, but I was content with my previous job that paid just enough to live. I just needed to vent about this situation.

I’ve been working for a couple of months at the largest pure grocer in the US, and it’s been an absolute nightmare. Recently, I’ve been cut down to just 28 hours spread across six days, which feels incredibly disrespectful given the circumstances. I’m not here to complain excessively, but it just keeps getting worse. This week, three people are out, yet my hours were still slashed while everyone else seems to be getting plenty. It’s frustrating because they don’t allocate enough hours to the department and then act surprised when tasks aren’t completed. It’s as if they don’t understand that time is a limited resource. I’m starting to wonder if this is some sort of retaliation. My main supervisor has been acting strangely lately, but I think he might be mixing me up with my direct supervisor. It’s all very bizarre, especially since I just got passed over for a promotion. Instead of a clear rejection, I was told there might be another opportunity way down the line, which doesn’t exactly instill confidence. I make $15 an hour, so I really need those hours. I’ve expressed this multiple times, but it feels like it’s falling on deaf ears. On a scale of 1 to 10, I’d rate how disrespectful this situation is as a solid 8. One day off with barely any hours makes it impossible for me to even consider picking up a second job.

I recently quit a retail job I had just started a week ago. After working for four years at a great company, I took the first opportunity that came my way due to being a military spouse and the need to move frequently. The training was minimal; I did some computer training for two shifts and was then thrown onto the register with little support. I ended up handling a long line of customers mostly on my own, and it was overwhelming. The girl who was supposed to train me barely assisted, and I noticed that my manager and others would often disappear when help was needed. When I asked my manager a question over the walkie, she jokingly said she was 'changing her name' because everyone kept asking questions—clearly, she was serious about avoiding her responsibilities. Additionally, I witnessed them changing schedules abruptly without prior notice, which was frustrating. I decided not to return and am now applying for other positions while hoping to qualify for unemployment. I just needed to vent about this experience because it was really disheartening.

I was laid off today after 25 years at my company, and I feel completely lost and scared. This is my first time ever facing a layoff, and while I initially felt a sense of relief after accepting the news, reality quickly set in, leaving me in despair. I'm 51 years old, and the thought of starting over is overwhelming. I've received some encouragement from others who have been in similar situations, reminding me to apply for unemployment as soon as possible and to take some time to process my feelings. They suggested taking a weekend to vent and relax before diving into the job search. I know I need to update my resume and start looking for new opportunities, but right now, I'm just trying to cope with this major life change.

I was recently laid off and am now actively seeking new opportunities in AML, Financial Crime, Transaction Monitoring, KYC/KYB, and Compliance. I have over 7 years of experience in areas such as AML, EDD, CDD, Transaction Monitoring, SOF/SOW verification, and Financial Crime Risk Assessment. I'm eager to bring my expertise to a new role and contribute from day one. If anyone knows of openings or can provide a referral, I would greatly appreciate your support. I recently started a new job and it's turning into a nightmare. I'm currently trying to navigate a toxic work environment while looking for a new opportunity. It's been tough, and I feel like I'm dealing with subtle harassment and unnecessary drama. For instance, I've been asked multiple times if I'm a mom, and when I said no, the response felt judgmental. It’s frustrating because I wouldn’t judge anyone for their personal life choices, but it seems like others are judging me for mine. I also had to go into a coworking space for a few hours recently, even though I'm usually remote, because there was no quiet place for meetings. I was told I need to be more participatory during in-office days, which means I have to take calls in a loud environment. During a recent meeting, I was multitasking because I was overwhelmed with client issues, and I didn’t get a chance to contribute. Afterward, I was pinged about my mic being muted, which felt unfair since I was working 18 hours that day. Additionally, my use of a specific note-taking app was publicly criticized during a team meeting. It made me feel singled out and unappreciated for trying to stay organized. Even during onboarding, I expressed feeling overwhelmed by the instability in my workload, and my trainer scoffed at me, which was disheartening. I’m not someone who lets people walk all over me, but sometimes I come off as meek. I’m tempted to have a direct conversation about these issues because they are ridiculous. However, I know the job market is tough right now, and I might be interviewing for months. I'm feeling burnt out from my previous job, and I’m struggling to keep my cool in this current situation. I want to fly under the radar while I search for a new job. If anyone has tips on how to manage this while being covert, I would really appreciate it.

I was laid off on Wednesday afternoon by my manager at a small remote company. They are paying me until the end of the month and want me to do a handoff call with a couple of colleagues. Interestingly, the CEO was involved in everyone else's layoff calls except for mine. He scheduled a meeting with me for Friday, but I pushed it to Monday because I needed some time to collect myself. I can't help but feel that this call is more for his benefit than mine, and I'm struggling with what to say. I want to be professional, but the emotions are overwhelming. I've never been laid off before, and it took me two years to find this job. Now, after just under a year, I'm left feeling raw and uncertain about how to handle this situation.
