I’m feeling really overwhelmed right now with my job situation and the thought of going back to school. I work full-time but I barely have any time to study or attend classes, and I’m worried that if I lose my job, I could be unemployed for months again. I’ve already gone through a lot of my savings after being unemployed for four months before landing this job. My financial situation is really tight; I have student loans from my first college experience that didn’t pan out, and now I can barely pay my bills. My bank account just keeps dwindling. I’m approaching 30 and I want to start a family with my husband, which adds even more pressure. We have a wedding coming up, and unfortunately, I don’t have any family or friends who can help us out. They are either struggling themselves or just not supportive. I feel stuck in dead-end jobs that pay around $20 an hour or less, and I desperately want better pay and benefits. My credit card debt is also piling up, and I can’t afford to take out more loans since I’m ineligible for many due to my lower middle-class status. I know it might sound like I’m just making excuses, but I genuinely feel lost. I’m curious if anyone else has been in a similar situation and managed to find a way to go back to school or improve their career. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I’ve been stuck in an interview loop for almost three months now. I applied to a company where I went through five rounds of interviews, and I’m still waiting for a decision. Two other companies also put me through four interviews each, and I haven’t heard back from them either. After the fifth round, I received an email with positive feedback but no rejection, just more waiting. It’s starting to feel like this process is never going to end. I’m trying to stay positive, but it’s tough when it feels like I’m being kept in limbo. I’ve heard from others that large organizations often have long hiring processes, so I’m hoping that means I’m still in the running. I just wish I had some clarity on where I stand.

I recently went through a lengthy interview process for a marketing coordinator position at a mid-sized company. After three interviews, where everything seemed promising and the salary was decent, I was asked to complete a final assignment. They wanted me to create a comprehensive 30-day marketing strategy for one of their actual products, which included campaign ideas, a content calendar, target audiences, suggested ad copy, budget allocation, and website improvement recommendations. They mentioned it should only take a few hours, but it ended up consuming my entire weekend. I presented my plan during a video call with four team members, and they asked detailed questions about implementation and expected results. The hiring manager expressed that they were extremely impressed and assured me I would hear back within two days. However, a week went by with no communication, so I followed up with both the recruiter and the hiring manager, but received no response. Two weeks later, I noticed the company had started using two of my campaign ideas, including a headline that was nearly identical to what I had crafted. The job listing is still active, and I never received any rejection notice. I feel foolish for providing them with so much free work, especially since the entire process felt like I was the final candidate. Moving forward, I’ve decided that I am only willing to complete short sample assignments and will never again create an entire strategy for free.

After 11 years as a recruiter, I've decided it's time for a change. However, the current job market has been really tough, and I've been struggling to find a new position with very little success. I feel that my experience isn't as relevant to the roles that are available, which makes getting interviews even more challenging. I'm reaching out to see if anyone else has made a significant career shift and what their starting point was. Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated.

I was laid off from my job in IT about three weeks ago, and I’m really struggling with motivation. I’ve gone through a few interviews but haven’t been able to make it past the final round, which has been really disheartening. I’m reaching out for suggestions on how to stay motivated during this tough time. I’ve seen others share their experiences, and I’d appreciate any advice or tips that could help me get through this. It feels like finding work is becoming increasingly difficult, and my confidence is taking a hit.

I’m feeling really concerned about my brother, who is 25 and has never held a steady job. He dropped out of college after just one semester and has only worked a seasonal job during the holidays. Since then, he’s been doing DoorDash occasionally but mostly spends his time watching YouTube and playing video games. I’ve tried to talk to him about what might be holding him back, but he doesn’t open up much. I suspect it could be a mix of lack of motivation, laziness, or maybe some neurodivergence. Our parents are pushing him to find a job now, but he’s been focusing on retail and food service positions without much luck. I know the job market is tough right now, and his lack of experience makes it even harder. He seems reluctant to apply for jobs that don’t pay well, but he really needs to start supporting himself instead of relying on our family. I’m looking for advice on what kind of positions he could apply for or how he could improve his chances of finding a job. Some suggestions I’ve seen include looking into warehouses or manufacturing jobs, which might be more open to hiring someone with little experience. There’s also the idea of enrolling in a technical college or getting a forklift ticket, which could lead to better pay and make him more employable. I just hope he can find the drive to make a change.

I recently accepted a fantastic job offer, and everything seemed to be on track until I received a call from the background check coordinator. They informed me that my previous employer reported I was terminated for cause, which is completely false. I resigned from my position three months ago, providing a full two-week notice and even completed an exit interview. I have all the documentation to prove it, including my resignation email and the signed exit interview documents. Now, I'm terrified that this misinformation could jeopardize my job offer. I've sent copies of my resignation and acceptance letter to the screening agency, but I can't shake the worry that the new company might rescind the offer due to this drama. I feel like I've done everything right, but I'm anxious about how this will play out.

I recently applied for a Marketing Program Manager position at Amazon Turkey, specifically aimed at candidates with disabilities. About two weeks ago, a recruitment agency that focuses on disability employment contacted me about this opportunity. The role is a fixed-term contract for one year, with the possibility of converting to a permanent position if both parties are satisfied. I confirmed my agreement with the contract terms and sent over my CV, after which I received the job description. I applied through the official Amazon jobs link and completed their online personality assessment, which was quite an unusual experience—definitely felt like a fever dream! Now, my application status is showing as "Under Consideration." The job involves enhancing the shopping experience on Amazon.com.tr, including developing marketing initiatives and optimizing content. The basic qualifications include a bachelor's degree (preferably in Marketing, Business, Communications, Economics, or Engineering), fluency in English and Turkish, and proficiency in Excel. While I do meet the basic qualifications, I lack some preferred qualifications like direct A/B testing experience and a relevant degree. My background includes 1.5 years in a graduate marketing program at Bosch Turkey, where I handled market analysis, agency coordination, and content management. I also have a B.A. in English Translation and Interpreting, but my degree isn’t one of the preferred fields listed. I have a few questions: 1. Does the "Under Consideration" status actually indicate progress, or is it just a generic status? 2. For fixed-term roles like this, is the interview process as intense as the typical Amazon stories, or is it usually less rigorous? 3. Has anyone worked with a third-party agency for Amazon applications? How long did it take for them to respond? I’m trying to manage my expectations and would appreciate any insights or experiences shared!

I work at a tech company in California, and I've recently faced a tough decision regarding my job. The company announced a relocation, and I initially planned to move with them. However, after some thought, I've decided not to make the move. They set a deadline for when we need to be at the new location, and I'm feeling anxious about how to handle this situation. I informed my manager about my initial plans to relocate, but now I need to figure out when to officially give my notice. I'm worried that if I tell them I'm not moving, they might let me go immediately. I'm also considering filing for unemployment since I believe I can qualify due to the relocation. I’m unsure how to navigate this, especially with my manager likely asking about my plans soon.

I was laid off yesterday along with over 50 others at my company, which had already let go of more than 80 people just two months ago. I've only been here for three months, and this is the second time I've faced layoffs in a year and a half. I'm feeling really anxious about the future, especially since I've been underpaid and haven't managed to save anything in the last two years. It's frustrating to see so many hardworking people struggling to make ends meet. The layoffs included a Principal Engineer and a Director of IT, which makes it even more concerning. I just wish we could all have a decent living without these constant upheavals. At this point, I feel like just a giant meteor hitting us would be less stressful.

Today, I was let go from my medical receptionist position after only five days on the job. The termination was completely unexpected; I had just interacted with a patient at 9:30 AM, and by 10 AM, I was told I was no longer needed. I was informed that there were concerns about my attitude, but I was genuinely trying to learn and adapt to the role. I rarely used my phone, asked questions, and made an effort to improve. I never received any feedback or warnings about my performance, which makes this situation even more confusing. Additionally, there was a misunderstanding regarding my availability when I was hired. I had asked about my upcoming schedule and was told I had requested a day off that I didn't actually mark down. I feel like I was set up to fail without any opportunity to correct any perceived issues. I requested a written statement regarding my termination to help with my unemployment application, but I was only told that my final paycheck had been mailed. I asked again for documentation, but the response was vague and unhelpful. I know that Pennsylvania is an at-will employment state, meaning they can terminate me without warning, but I’m wondering if I should keep pursuing documentation, file for unemployment regardless, or consult an employment lawyer. Has anyone else experienced something similar? What should my next steps be?

I recently faced a major setback in my job search for my dream position with the City of X in Canada. Back in 2025, I applied for several jobs there but was never selected. In my naivety, I used different resumes for these applications, altering job titles and dates, thinking it was just a harmless way to apply for fun. Fast forward to this year, after finally obtaining the necessary certifications, I applied again, only to find out that my application was flagged for inconsistencies. The Senior HR representative reached out to me, asking if I could substantiate the discrepancies in my resumes. I realized she was aware of my past mistakes, so I came clean and provided my actual job letters and roles, hoping for some understanding. Unfortunately, my honesty didn't pay off; I was rejected and barred from future applications, with the HR department emphasizing the importance of truthfulness. I reached out again to inquire about an appeal process, but the Head of HR confirmed that the ban is permanent. It's incredibly disheartening, especially since this was my dream job with good pay. I'm now worried about similar issues with other government jobs I've applied for in the past, as I used different resumes for those as well. I'm seeking advice on whether my previous applications will affect my future chances and if there's any way to move forward from this situation. Should I create a new profile or just wait it out? Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

I have been unemployed since early December 2025, despite holding a master's degree and having over 8 years of experience. My last job lasted 6.5 years, and I thought I was finally turning a corner when a prospective employer told me during the final interview that they loved me and wanted to hire me. They described the exciting projects I would be involved in and how my versatile skill set would fit perfectly within the company. However, weeks later, I received a rejection, with the excuse that my technical skills were too advanced for the strict contract requirements they had. They mentioned they might consider me for a future position and suggested I follow them on LinkedIn. This was my fourth rejection in just one week, and I suspect there are more out there since I haven't heard back from several other applications. Financially, I'm in ruins, relying on my Amex credit card to get by, and to make matters worse, they recently lowered my credit limit by $9,000. It's been a tough journey, and I'm feeling pretty defeated.

Today, I had my first HackerRank interview for a Data Engineering role, and I completely flopped. I felt so embarrassed throughout the process. I was unfamiliar with the coding environment, which made it really difficult to identify the bug in my code. When I finally did find the bug, I completely blanked on how to write a simple try/except block. It was such a frustrating experience that I honestly wanted to just end the interview early. I can't believe how poorly it went.

I recently applied for a position with a company called CDS, thinking it was directly with Costco. It turns out that CDS is just a contractor working inside Costco. I've been in communication with them via email for about a week and a half now. They had me go through a lot of onboarding processes, including watching videos and obtaining a food safety certification. However, despite all of this, they still haven't provided me with a start date for work. I'm feeling a bit frustrated and uncertain about the situation.

Today, I received the disappointing news that the company I interviewed with on Wednesday is not moving forward with my application. The president had mentioned multiple times during the interview that I would be coming back, which made this rejection feel even more disheartening. I have a solid background with 17 years of experience at two different EPC companies, so I don't consider myself a job hopper. My last position was with a publicly traded EPC firm, but they have been undergoing restructuring for over a year, which led to many of us in Business Development losing our jobs. Now, 16 months later, I'm still struggling to find a new opportunity. Financially, things are tight, and I feel overwhelmed and numb. I can't shake the feeling of failure, especially when I think about my family relying on me. It's a tough situation, and I feel like I'm being punished for circumstances beyond my control.

I recently decided to quit my job in California due to a significant change in my position. For the past three years, I have been working in an administrative role, but my employer moved me to a front desk customer-facing position without any change in pay. While my job duties remained somewhat similar, I was now expected to handle both front desk responsibilities and my usual administrative tasks. This shift was not part of my original job description when I signed my contract, and despite expressing my concerns about managing both roles, my employer insisted that it made the most sense for me to be at the front desk. I am now questioning whether I would be eligible for unemployment benefits after quitting due to these changing job duties.

I recently had an interview that left me feeling uneasy due to several pink flags and one glaring red flag. This was the final interview after three others with different team members, and for the first time in the process, I felt uncomfortable about the role. I had been on vacation and had a packed schedule, so I decided to skip sending a thank you note for this last interview, even though I had sent one for the previous interviews. Now, three days later, I finally have some time, but I’m unsure if sending a late thank you would be more detrimental than not sending one at all. I’m considering writing a thank you email that also includes some clarifying questions about the vague aspects of the interview. I worry about how it might look to the hiring committee if everyone else received a thank you except for the big boss. Thank you notes are fairly standard in my industry, so it could come off as a snub. The whole hiring process has been quite strange. The final interview was only 45 minutes long, and I felt that wasn’t enough time to gauge if we could work well together. I had previously met with each team member for 30 minutes, and then had this last interview with the prospective boss. The interviewer was late and even asked for five minutes to finish something before we started. There were also several miscommunications during the interview, and it seemed there was confusion about the role I was applying for. Having been on the hiring side myself many times, I found it surprising how unprepared the interviewer seemed. I’m also facing potential restructuring in my current job, which adds to my uncertainty. While I have reservations about this new role, I want to keep my options open in this challenging job market.

I was terminated from my job in early May due to what my manager claimed was "poor performance." She cited instances where I was corrected multiple times and my absences, along with a specific incident involving a scheduling issue that stemmed from a new beta program we were using. I had been confused by her abrupt termination notice, especially since she had previously indicated that the scheduling issue wasn't my fault. After being let go, I focused on applying for unemployment benefits, which I was approved for by the end of May. However, I recently received a letter stating that my former employer is appealing this decision, aiming to reverse my unemployment approval. They didn't provide a court date or specific reasons for their appeal, just that I might have to pay back any benefits received if the judge rules against me. I'm feeling overwhelmed and unsure of how to navigate this situation. I had started gathering evidence, like screenshots of messages from my manager that highlighted her threats of termination, but I lost access to my work laptop shortly after my termination. I do have some supportive emails from HR encouraging me to apply for unemployment, but I'm worried about how to prepare for the hearing. I've been trying to rebuild my confidence after my termination, and now this appeal has thrown me for a loop. I'm seeking advice on how to defend myself and what steps I should take next.
