I recently applied for a position that is essentially the bigger version of an internship I had a couple of years ago, which I really enjoyed. After submitting my application, I had a phone screen a couple of weeks back. I followed up with the corporate recruiter, who informed me that the hiring manager hasn't shown any interest yet but would let me know if that changes. I initially thought I might have been outcompeted due to the tough job market, especially since the job listing was just reposted. I felt disappointed to be left in the dark, especially since the specific internship I did isn't offered anymore. I meet about 90% of the qualifications for this role, and I have a decent relationship with the person I interned under, though he's not the hiring manager. I'm considering reaching out to him to leverage that connection or even contacting the hiring manager directly, which I know can be frowned upon. This position is my dream job, and opportunities in this niche are rare in my area. I'm also a bit worried that I might have hit some HR filter for some reason. Despite feeling like I've been indirectly told 'no,' I noticed the hiring manager checked my LinkedIn recently, which gives me a glimmer of hope. I just really want the chance to sit down for an interview, even if I ultimately don’t get the offer.

I'm currently feeling really demotivated in my job search. I've been applying to numerous positions but haven't received any interview invitations, which is really disheartening. The job market seems tough right now, and I'm struggling to stay positive. I'm trying to find ways to keep my spirits up and maintain my motivation during this challenging time. If anyone has tips or strategies that have helped them stay focused and motivated while job hunting, I would greatly appreciate it.

I graduated in 2023 and worked at a company until January 2024 when I was laid off. I managed to find a new job in June 2024, but unfortunately, they let me go due to a lack of work. Now, I've been unemployed for six months again. I'm currently living with my sister, who is a travel nurse. When I first moved back, I was responsible for most of the bills, but now I'm struggling to keep up. She’s expressed frustration about having to help with bills, and it feels like I'm on the verge of being kicked out. I understand her perspective; she works hard and has done a lot for me. However, I’m actively searching for jobs while working full-time in retail to cover most of the bills. Still, I sometimes have to ask her for help just to afford basic meals. There’s a significant age gap between us, and she’s never experienced unemployment, so she sees my situation as laziness. We recently watched a news segment about new college grads struggling to find work, and she dismissed it, thinking it’s just a matter of not wanting to work. I feel stuck and frustrated, not just with my job search but also with the strain it's putting on my relationship with my sister. I’m considering documenting my job applications and interviews to show her I’m making an effort, but I’m not sure how much that will help. I just want to find stability again and ease the tension at home.

I recently joined J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. in Mumbai and I'm currently on probation. While the company has a solid reputation, my experience has been quite mixed. One of the office locations, Malad, has made my daily routine feel exhausting, whereas the other location is significantly better. However, the real challenge has been my manager, who is based in Bangalore. During a conversation, he mentioned, "If you were in Bangalore, I'd show you..." This comment felt more threatening than supportive, leaving me discouraged rather than motivated. Since that conversation, I've been questioning whether this is the right environment for me. I've started applying to roles at companies like Third Bridge, Guidepoint, and GLG, as they align better with my long-term interests in research and strategy. I'm torn because leaving J.P. Morgan during my probation period could negatively impact my CV, but staying in a non-supportive environment doesn't feel right either. I'm seeking honest opinions from anyone who has faced a similar situation. Would you stay and try to push through, or leave for a better opportunity?

I recently went through a lengthy hiring process with a company in City A for a role that I was really excited about. After two months and four rounds of interviews—three technical and one HR—I received a job offer. However, there was a major issue regarding the work arrangement. From the start, I made it clear that I planned to move back to City B, and I asked if a hybrid work setup could be accommodated, which they initially agreed to. When I finally received the offer, I was taken aback to find out that they expected me to be in the office three days a week. This was a complete departure from our original agreement, and I expressed my concerns. I proposed a compromise of coming in once a week instead, which I felt was more in line with what we had discussed. Since then, communication has completely stalled. It's been a week since I sent my response, and I haven't heard anything back. To make matters worse, I noticed that they reposted the job on LinkedIn the day after my reply, which makes me feel like they are starting the hiring process all over again. I’m torn about whether I should reach out to them again. Part of me thinks I should, as it might clarify the situation, but another part feels that they might just ignore me or reiterate that the three days a week requirement is non-negotiable. I can’t help but feel that my request for clarification might have upset them, and I’m not sure if it’s worth it to follow up given the impression they’ve left me with.

I was recently let go from my job due to what was labeled as gross misconduct, which I believe was a significant misunderstanding. After my termination, I applied for unemployment benefits but was initially denied. I decided to appeal the decision and presented my side of the story. After two weeks, I received a letter stating that while no gross misconduct had occurred, I was still terminated for just cause. I'm trying to understand what this means for my situation moving forward. Thanks for taking the time to read about my experience.

I've been thinking about my job search strategy while working with a staffing agency. Currently, I'm in a position where I need to gain some volunteer experience in political science to help advance my career. In the meantime, I plan to take on temporary jobs to maintain some income. I'm curious about others' experiences—specifically, how many of you continued to look for jobs outside of the staffing agency, especially if the temp job was unrelated to your field? From what I've gathered, it seems like temp work is just a means to an end, and there's no real expectation of loyalty to the agency. I’ve heard that many people keep applying elsewhere while working these temporary positions, which is encouraging. Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated!

I was terminated from my role as a computer hardware technician after about 5 months on June 29, 2026. I started this job on February 2, 2026, and this was my first layoff ever. The decision came after a long wait of nearly two months following my performance concerns that began after I completed training in March. I struggled significantly with my output, often finishing only low 20s to mid 30s of boards, while senior technicians could handle 30 to 50. I also faced customer complaints due to wrong parts being used, which was exacerbated by running out of specific parts and my tendency to be overly meticulous. I was shocked by the timing of the termination, especially since I expected a decision weeks earlier. The company seemed to be under pressure with an upcoming audit, which may have influenced their decision. I realize now that my mild autism might have impacted my ability to work efficiently in such a fast-paced environment, where I often rushed and made mistakes. On a positive note, my family is relocating closer to Houston next month, which should alleviate my transportation issues that have hindered my job search. I gained valuable soldering and repair skills during my time at this job, and I'm determined to learn from this experience to improve my soft skills. I'm hopeful that my next opportunity will be a better fit for me.

I recently lost my job and I feel completely frozen. It's hard to move forward or even think about what to do next. I worked at a tech company as a software engineer for over three years, and now I'm just stuck in this overwhelming feeling of uncertainty. I know I need to update my resume and start applying for new positions, but I can’t seem to find the motivation to do it. Has anyone else experienced this? How did you overcome it?

I recently had an interview for the position of Library Assistant Apprentice. I noticed that the candidate before me was in the interview for a significantly longer time and seemed to be connecting well with the interviewers, as I could hear them laughing together. In contrast, my interview felt much shorter, and I left feeling like I hadn't provided the answers they were looking for, despite having practiced extensively for the questions. It's a bit disheartening, but I'm trying to stay positive and learn from the experience.

I applied for a job a few weeks ago and received a message asking me to "save the date" for interviews on July 1. I was excited and replied politely, hoping for more details. However, now it's the day before the scheduled interviews, and I still haven't received any information about the time, location, or even confirmation that I have an interview. This feels really unprofessional to me. I've never been in a situation where I was told to block an entire day without any further updates. I'm starting to think that maybe I wasn't selected to move forward, but I wish they would just communicate that clearly.

I was terminated today after working for 6 years in the telecom industry, specifically in conformance testing. My company decided to downsize and unfortunately, my entire team, including my lead, was let go along with several other teams. This news hit me hard, especially since I thought I was secure in my position and had even just taken out a car loan this month. I'm struggling with how to break this to my family, particularly my parents, as I have my own family to support and things are looking quite bleak right now. I'm reaching out for any job leads or openings, and I would also appreciate any advice on how to navigate this situation.

I was laid off after just a month of work at a new company, and honestly, I'm reaching my limit. Last year, right before the winter holidays, I was unexpectedly let go from my previous job. I had sensed it might happen, as I had asked my manager multiple times about my job security, and he always assured me that I would have work. But then, a month later, I was called into the office and told my contract was terminated. It was a tough blow, and I spent several months unemployed and feeling down. Eventually, I found a new job, but it was a low-paying and stressful position in a restaurant. Just when I thought things were improving, I received an offer for a new position in my field during the spring. It was a contract role, but I was promised guaranteed work until fall and that the team would be looking to hire the best contractors for full-time positions. However, after only one month at this new job, I was informed that the work was being put on pause due to funding issues. It’s been a month now with no updates or communication from the company. We were abruptly told in a Zoom meeting that we would no longer have jobs and would lose all our benefits, including healthcare. I just can't comprehend how this is legal. It feels like people’s lives are being toyed with in this economy. I live in the US, where everything is expensive. My housing costs are high, and with the SAVE Plan ending, I’m uncertain about my student loans. At just 25 years old, I’m feeling depressed and beaten down. It’s hard to see any hope in a world that feels so unstable.

I'm currently on the lookout for stipend volunteer programs in Pennsylvania. I've been trying to find opportunities that not only allow me to contribute but also provide some financial support. I remember my sister used to participate in short-term volunteering roles that came with stipends, and I think this could be a good option for me since I'm out of work right now. I've attempted to post in other subreddits focused on Pennsylvania and volunteering, but my posts were rejected, leaving me a bit frustrated. If anyone has suggestions or knows where I can find such programs, I would greatly appreciate the help!

I recently left my position as a control systems technician in the paper industry to take on a plant programmer role in the food and beverage sector, lured by a significant pay increase of over $20,000 per year. While I had my share of frustrations at my old job, I genuinely enjoyed the work and valued my coworkers. However, just two weeks into the new job, I'm feeling completely overwhelmed and miserable. I'm struggling to adapt to a new industrial process and unfamiliar programming software, which is already challenging enough without proper support. The onsite resources are virtually nonexistent, and the only person I can reach out to is about 40 minutes away and not particularly helpful. Now, I'm seriously contemplating going back to my previous employer, but I'm torn about the idea of giving up the higher salary and returning after leaving. It's a tough situation, and I'm hoping to hear from anyone who's been in a similar position. Any advice would be appreciated!

I'm currently on the job hunt and have been using Indeed and Snagajob to find opportunities. Unfortunately, my old phone limits me from using some platforms, but I'm considering exploring other apps. Right now, I'm facing a challenge as there aren't many job postings available. Most listings require bilingual skills, specific college degrees, or relevant experience, and many positions are located far away despite my search settings being set for nearby jobs. I've thought about calling some places directly, but my past experiences haven't been fruitful, and it feels like the people on the other end are not keen on adding more competition. I'm also contemplating using a staffing agency for the first time since I'm running low on energy and motivation. I'm open to any suggestions or options that might help me secure income without relying solely on traditional job applications.

I've been unemployed for several months now, and I've recently come across a sales leadership role that offers no base salary. It's a tough decision for me to make. On one hand, it could be a great opportunity to get back into the workforce and gain valuable experience. On the other hand, I need to consider my financial situation and whether I can afford to take a role without any guaranteed income. I'm weighing the pros and cons and trying to figure out if the potential commission and growth opportunities would be worth the risk.

I graduated high school a while ago, and ever since then, I've been struggling to find a job. It feels like no matter how many applications I send out for basic positions in retail or warehouses, I just keep getting rejected. I know I'm not lazy; I genuinely want to work, but it seems like luck is just not on my side. It's really frustrating to put myself out there and not get chosen for any of the roles I apply for. I've heard that signing up with an employment agency might help, so I'm considering that as a potential next step.

I'm currently employed in a dead-end job and I'm looking to leave. I've been feeling stuck and unfulfilled, and I want to find something more rewarding. I've been wondering how many job applications I should be submitting to increase my chances of landing a new position. I know it won't be a precise number, but I'm preparing myself for the possibility that it could take a lot of applications. I'm hoping to get some advice on how to approach my job search and what kind of roles I should be targeting.

I'm starting a new job next Monday and I'm currently going through the onboarding process, but I'm feeling a bit anxious. Ever since I accepted the offer two weeks ago, I haven't had any human contact—no emails or phone calls. Instead, I've just been getting automated tasks through an onboarding portal. I know there's probably someone behind the scenes managing this, but it would be nice to hear from a real person, especially since I have some questions about the process and whether my equipment for remote work is being sent. Has anyone else experienced this and still managed to start on time? I understand that automation is common in larger companies, but a little human outreach would really help ease my concerns.
