Applied to a Job

Today marks my first day of job hunting after being laid off from my tech position. I spent the entire day applying to around 20 jobs, from 9 AM to 5 PM. In a moment of desperation, I even submitted an application to be a train conductor. It feels like such a low number of applications, especially with everything I’ve been reading about the job market potentially being tough until 2026. Honestly, it’s pretty depressing and I’m feeling scared about the future. I just bought my first home last year, and the thought of defaulting on my mortgage is terrifying. I’m not even sure if I should consider selling it as soon as possible. This is the first time I’ve had to search for a job under such pressure, and the stress is really getting to me; I feel like I'm developing an ulcer. I’m struggling to understand how others cope with this situation for weeks or even months. How do people manage to keep their homes during such uncertain times?

I recently applied for an internal position at my current company where I've been working as an Assembly Technician for about six months. My Line Lead and Supervisor encouraged me to go for a Salaried Trainer position, which I was excited about. I went through an initial screening with the hiring manager, followed by a full day of five different interviews and a presentation. After that, my recruiter reached out to give me an update. They mentioned that the Training Manager wants to schedule a 45-minute in-person meeting with me to discuss the processes I support and provide feedback on my presentation. I'm a bit anxious about whether this meeting is an additional interview or if it could be a precursor to a denial. I’m hoping for the best, but I’m trying to read between the lines. I appreciate any insights or experiences others might have had in similar situations!

I recently applied for a position that seemed like a perfect match for my skills and experience. I was really excited about the opportunity, but I found out that a colleague from another department got the job instead. What’s frustrating is that he didn’t have any similar experience or roles that aligned with the job description. I’m struggling to understand how the decision was made and why he was chosen over me. It feels really disheartening.

I'm feeling overwhelmed right now. I've submitted almost 300 job applications and haven't received any offers yet. It's been mentally exhausting, and I really need to secure a new job in the next couple of months. I've had 15 interviews, including one second-round interview, but nothing has panned out. The interviewer did mention that my resume looks great, which makes me wonder if I'm just not performing well in interviews or if I struggle with communication. I'm even considering switching to a trade career as a backup plan.

I'm currently feeling a bit lost in my job search. I've been applying to various positions but haven't had much luck lately. I've exhausted many of my options and am starting to feel overwhelmed. I'm reaching out for any advice or leads on job openings, especially in the tech sector. I'm open to roles in software development or project management. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I’m still job hunting with no offers yet, but I’ve completed three interviews so far. Tomorrow, I have a walk-in interview lined up, which feels like a last-ditch effort since I’m burning through my savings just traveling to these places. It’s getting absurd. I recently went to a semi-fast food restaurant chain where the interviewer seemed dismissive right from the start. He raised his brows and rolled his eyes when I walked in, and when I mentioned I was looking to gain server experience, he bluntly told me he needed someone with at least two years of experience. Seriously? For a place like that? It’s frustrating because they waste my time with these strict requirements while they don’t even seem to review resumes properly. Plus, they insist on online applications, but what's the point if they’re not actually looking at them? I’m trying to stay polite, but I can’t help but feel angry about the whole situation. I just hope the interviewer faces someone who gives him a taste of his own medicine because this is getting ridiculous.

I've been working at my corporate job for over two years now, and honestly, I can't stand it anymore. It's draining my energy and making me dread each day. Currently, my manager is on maternity leave, and my skip manager is also absent, leaving me without any support. This has been particularly tough since I recently got diagnosed with ADHD, and I really need structure and accountability, which I just don't have right now. Because of this, I've been struggling to keep up with my tasks, falling weeks behind, and I’m terrified that someone will notice soon. The anxiety is overwhelming, especially with a big event coming up in October that I need to prepare for. To cope, I started medication to help me get through the workdays while I look for a new job. I had a recruiter interview this morning that seemed to go well, but I know the medication can only help so much. I've considered taking FMLA to offload my work to someone else, but I'm worried about the consequences. If I find a new job while on leave, I might have to pay back the employer's portion of my benefits, and I can't afford to take unpaid leave. I spoke with a trusted colleague about needing some support, but I feel like I can't rely on anyone to help me navigate this situation. I was hoping to have a new job by now, but the job market is tough, and I'm feeling stuck. Any advice would be really appreciated.

I was laid off for the third time in seven years, and it's really starting to take a toll on me. It feels like I've spent half of my professional life just interviewing and applying for new jobs. Every couple of years, I'm back at square one, trying to find a new position. It's frustrating because I feel like I can't get ahead. I'm also dreading the next round of applications, especially with the new AI tools and younger recruiters who seem to lack experience and proper screening methods. It's disheartening to think about getting rejected by someone who might not even understand my qualifications. I’ve read that this is becoming the new norm in corporate America, but it’s hard to accept. I wonder how anyone manages to stay in one job for more than five years these days. I know I need to be careful about how I frame my career in interviews, so I’m planning to really assess the companies I apply to next. I want to look for signs of stability, like their funding and leadership, instead of just jumping into the next opportunity.

I've been out of work since my entire department was laid off last December. It's been incredibly frustrating as I've submitted hundreds of applications but only received one response, which ultimately ghosted me when it came time for a phone interview. I'm wondering if there's a service that could apply on my behalf. I thought staffing agencies would help, but most seem to act more like job boards, focusing on filling positions for employers rather than assisting job seekers like me. I've heard that smaller, boutique recruiting agencies might be more effective, especially those that specialize in my field. They seem to provide better support and communication throughout the job search process.

I spent nearly a year looking for a job in finance, from July 2025 to June 2026. It was a long and challenging journey, marked by a total of 6 rounds of interviews for one position, only to face rejection in the end. I found it frustrating that after so many interviews, the company still couldn't make a decision. During this time, I submitted around 150 applications, but only managed to secure 8 interviews, none of which went beyond two rounds. I understand that my target roles might be less common, but it still feels disheartening. I'm trying to stay positive and keep the faith as I continue my search.
