Today, I officially submitted my two-week notice after working as a supervisor in direct care for a company that has been nothing short of chaotic. Over the past few months, I’ve been clocking in up to 90 hours a week, often without a single day off, which finally took a toll on my health and led to me being out sick for a few days. During my absence, my boss decided it was time for an urgent meeting with HR, and I was prepared to defend myself against a barrage of blame for the staffing issues and my workload. Despite my efforts to communicate and work through the chaos, I was met with accusations and a lack of accountability from upper management. I stood my ground and presented evidence to counter their claims, but it was clear they were unwilling to acknowledge the real problems within the organization. I left that meeting feeling dejected and angry, realizing that I was not being valued for my hard work. After a lot of soul-searching, I decided to hand in my resignation. I couldn’t let that environment take any more of my peace. Now, I’m in a position where I have two job offers on the table. One is in a different field with set hours but lower pay, while the other offers a higher salary with a similar workload but promises better work-life balance. I need to make a decision soon, as my financial situation is becoming a concern. I’m reaching out to see how others have coped with leaving a job like this and how they managed to stay positive during the transition.

I recently interviewed for a shift manager position at a grocery store after feeling overwhelmed in my current job, where I work up to 20 hours a day and only get one day off every 40-50 days. The situation has been really draining on my physical and mental health, so I decided it was time to explore other options. The interview went well, and to my surprise, I was offered the position on the spot. While it comes with a pay cut and a 30-minute commute, it offers full-time hours and a set schedule, which is a significant improvement over my current situation. I'm curious if others have accepted on-the-spot job offers and if they regretted it. I know some people say it can be a red flag, indicating desperation from the employer, but honestly, anything would be better than my current role.
