Today, I experienced a setback in my career journey. After spending 9 years as a bedside nurse in the ICU, where I’ve taken on various responsibilities like running stroke codes and precepting new hires, I applied for a supervisor position at my hospital. My new director encouraged me to go for it, even though I had applied for a similar role four years ago and was told I needed more experience. After nearly six weeks of interviews, I learned this morning that I didn’t get the job. The decision was between me and a colleague who has over 20 years of experience. While I respect his ability to get the job done, he has a history of bullying and making inappropriate comments. The director mentioned that they felt I would take longer to learn how to hold others accountable, while my colleague just needs to adjust his approach. They are announcing his promotion this week, and the director suggested I apply for his permanent charge position to increase my visibility. I’m feeling a bit salty about the whole situation and am unsure if I want to pursue that role. Many on my unit have expressed concerns about him being the supervisor, but I can’t deny that he runs the unit efficiently. I’m trying to stay positive, but it’s tough. Just needed to vent about this experience.

Over the past three months, I've been analyzing job postings directly from various companies' ATS systems, including Workday, Greenhouse, and Lever. I scraped around 8 million job postings from approximately 350,000 companies. One significant finding is that 39% of all currently open jobs have been listed for over 30 days, which translates to about 1.25 million job postings that are essentially stagnant. This data suggests that the common explanation of it taking time to fill positions might not hold true for many roles. Interestingly, the analysis revealed that a large portion of these listings are not being reposted frequently; only about 2.5% of postings are reposted. Instead, many companies seem to be leaving roles open indefinitely. For instance, I noticed that on platforms like SuccessFactors and Lever, a staggering 73% and 63% of open jobs, respectively, have been listed for more than 30 days. Additionally, I found that 82% of these job postings do not disclose a salary, which is frustrating for job seekers. Moreover, only 5.6% of the jobs are genuinely remote, contrary to what many job feeds might suggest. It appears that some staffing and consultancy firms are holding onto thousands of listings without actively hiring, which raises concerns about the effectiveness of the job market. While I don't have all the answers, this data highlights a troubling trend where many job applications may be going into a void, as nearly four in ten jobs have been open for over a month without any updates. I have all this information organized in a database, and I'm open to sharing more insights based on specific queries.

I recently found out that a friend of mine in Ohio is facing a tough situation. She has two full-time jobs, but she's on the verge of losing one of them. We were trying to figure out if she could file for unemployment benefits if she still has one full-time job left. The information on the official unemployment website was pretty unclear, so I reached out for advice. From what I gathered, it seems that since she's still working full-time, she wouldn't qualify for unemployment benefits. If she loses one job and her hours at the other job are reduced, then she might be eligible for partial benefits. It's a confusing situation, and I just want to help her understand her options.

I got laid off today from my position. It was unexpected and I'm still processing it. I'm trying to stay positive and remind myself that I'm not alone in this situation. I've seen a lot of support from others who have been through similar experiences, which helps a bit. I'm not sure what my next steps will be yet, but I’m open to exploring new opportunities.

Today, my boss informed me that due to a lack of work, I need to start looking for a part-time job. I've been with the company for a while, and it's been clear that we've been struggling, but hearing it directly was still a shock. I found it interesting that they offered to help me find a job and even prep me for interviews. However, when I asked about a good resume writing service, my boss seemed puzzled and suggested I just look for work at places like Home Depot or an auto parts store. There was no mention of unemployment benefits, but I vaguely remember hearing that you can claim partial unemployment when hours are reduced. I'm considering looking into that, especially since my employer seems more focused on getting me out the door than providing real support.

I've been at my current job for almost 7 years now, and honestly, I'm feeling really burnt out. The constant micromanaging and seeing others take advantage of the system year after year has taken its toll on me. I recently brought a friend into my team, and now I'm torn about whether to let them know I'm looking for a new job. I really don't want word to get out that I'm actively searching. On top of that, I need help getting my resume ready for ATS since I had a terrible experience with it last time. I want to make sure it stands out this time around. If anyone has tips or resources, I would really appreciate it!

I recently applied for a position as a TikTok Content Creator & Live Host with Aquanova Entertainment in Chino, CA, after seeing their listing on Indeed. They advertised a pay rate of $30–$50 per hour along with paid training. After submitting my application, I received a message inviting me to schedule a Zoom interview, and I had several time slots to choose from. So far, they haven't asked for any money, downloads, or personal financial info, which is a good sign. However, I've come across mixed opinions online. Some people are warning that TikTok host jobs are often scams, while others say they can be legitimate roles in livestreaming or talent agencies. I'm curious if anyone has experience working with Aquanova Entertainment or similar TikTok Live agencies. I'm also trying to figure out if the hourly wage they're offering is standard for these types of positions or if it typically depends on commissions or performance metrics. I'm being cautious and want to make sure this opportunity is legitimate and not misleading.

I am currently seeking side gigs or off-the-books jobs due to my challenging situation. Unfortunately, I am homeless and often find myself sleeping on the streets, which makes it difficult to maintain a regular job. I am looking for opportunities in areas like cleaning or moving, as I believe these types of work would allow me to earn some income without the stress of a formal job structure. I would greatly appreciate any resources, tips, or leads on where I might find such gigs. Thank you for your help.

Today, I confronted my manager about some very unprofessional behavior I experienced during my contract-to-hire role at the company. I started this position expecting it to last four months, but I found out my contract was ending early when my replacement reached out to me for training. It was incredibly frustrating to learn this way, especially since my manager never communicated the decision directly to me. Instead, I was told that the new director wanted to bring in someone else for the role. I’ve been trying to finish out my contract professionally, but the way this transition was handled left me disappointed. When my manager asked me to meet with my replacement today, I expressed my feelings about being blindsided and how unprofessional the situation was. I suggested that I’d prefer to avoid a meeting since I had already sent over the necessary documents. In response, my manager was dismissive and threatened to inform my agency about my reluctance to meet. He implied that as a contractor, it was my job to comply without question. Instead of acknowledging my frustration, he accused me of being unprofessional and claimed I was hard to reach for work-related tasks. I attended every scheduled meeting, and the only time I missed a call was due to a scheduling error on his part. There were also instances where he failed to provide proper guidance and then criticized my work without prior discussion. I felt like I was thrown into a chaotic situation with little support and no feedback until they decided to replace me. I told him that there was no point in arguing further; I would complete my tasks while under payroll. However, I also mentioned that it wasn’t fair to label me as unprofessional when they didn’t give me proper notice. It feels like they view me as less than human simply because I’m a contractor. A simple message informing me of the change would have sufficed, even if it was disappointing news. As a final step, I removed and blocked my manager on LinkedIn to distance myself from this negative experience.

I was unexpectedly let go from my job at a small business just minutes before my shift was supposed to start. I had been working there since March 20th and everything seemed fine; I had just received a positive evaluation and had no issues with customers or coworkers. However, as I arrived for my shift, my boss stopped me outside and informed me that I would no longer be scheduled to work. She mentioned that she had already covered my shifts, including the one I was supposed to work that day. I was completely blindsided, especially since I was still on the schedule for the following week and had received no prior indication that there was a problem. It was frustrating to have wasted 40 minutes commuting only to be told I was let go without any warning. I reached out for clarification and was told it was simply 'not the right schedule and role for me.' I only worked 1-2 times a week, so while I'm not overly concerned about losing this job, it still feels very abrupt and confusing. Is this kind of treatment normal?

I’m currently helping a 24-year-old friend who is on the lookout for legal job opportunities in Tamil Nadu or Bangalore. She has a solid educational background with a BA LLB Hons and an LLM in Business Law, coupled with about two years of litigation experience. Her work has involved cases related to the Madras High Court and NCLT, as well as corporate legal matters and contract drafting. She’s particularly interested in areas like DRT, NCLT, IBC, Property Law, Corporate Legal, Banking Legal, IPR, and Tax. Ideally, she’s looking for a role where she can learn and grow, and she’s open to working with any advocate or law firm. Given her financial responsibilities, she’s aiming for a starting salary of around 22k. If anyone knows of any firms or legal teams hiring in these regions, or if you could point me in the direction of any advocates or law firms looking for juniors, I would greatly appreciate it. A referral or lead would really make a difference for her as she’s trying to build a stable career after facing some personal challenges.

I'm currently struggling with my job application process through Dayforce. After scanning a QR code for a job opportunity, I was directed to create an account on their 'Manual Application' page. I completed the application and received a reference number, but that's where the trouble began. I wanted to check the status of my application, but I found no way to do so on the page I was directed to. I tried accessing the main Dayforce website, only to discover that my account seemed to be non-functional, as I couldn't log in. I read that it's possible to apply without an account, which might be what happened, but I was supposed to receive an email with a link to use my reference number, and that email never arrived. I attempted to create a new account, but the site prompted me to check a confirmation email that I also never received. Now, I can't access my initial account due to an error message about account migration problems, despite using the same computer and browser. To make matters worse, I need an account to contact customer service, so I'm stuck without any support. I'm really frustrated and just want to find out the status of my job application. If anyone has suggestions on how to navigate this issue, I would greatly appreciate it.

I recently graduated in December 2025 with a Bachelor’s in Computer Science and have been actively searching for a job. I've completed two paid internships during my studies, done some research work that provided a stipend, and even freelanced. Despite my efforts, I haven't received any job offers yet. I interviewed with the CEO of a startup for an internship position, but I was surprised to learn at the end of the interview that the role was unpaid. The CEO mentioned that interns are expected to work 45 hours a week, with morning and night shifts, and if you miss a shift, you need to make up those hours later. There are also two mandatory meetings each week, and the only perk is that the position is remote. I'm curious if unpaid internships are becoming more common in today's job market.

I recently applied online for a management position at a local retail store. After submitting my application, I was excited to receive an invitation for an in-store interview. However, when the day arrived, the manager who was supposed to conduct the interview flaked on me. I waited for a while, hoping they would show up, but unfortunately, I had to leave without any communication from them. It's disappointing to have put in the effort to prepare for the interview only to be let down like this.

I recently decided to quit my job at a bar where I had been working for about 3 months. This decision was really tough for me because I made some amazing friends among my coworkers, and they have become my closest friends during this time. However, I felt like this job was holding me back from pursuing my dreams. I was working night shifts every weekend and most days during the week, totaling around 6 shifts a week. I spoke to my manager about reducing my hours, but he denied my request, saying my reasons weren't valid. At just 19 years old, I realize I still have time to chase what I truly want in life before things get more serious. Although I didn't intend for this job to be a long-term career, leaving feels difficult mainly because of the friendships I've built. I also don't have another job lined up, which adds to my anxiety about quitting without financial stability. My only responsibility is paying rent, which is relatively low at £60 a week. I know that leaving a job can feel like closing a chapter, but I hope to maintain my connections with my coworkers. I’ve been told that friendships can survive beyond the workplace if I put in the effort. I’m trying to remind myself that this is likely the best time in my life to take risks and pursue what I want.

I finally made the decision to resign from my logistics job after 10 long years in the field, which includes military, contracting, and federal civilian roles. This past year has been incredibly challenging, and I struggled to find new opportunities. My recent position was absolutely soul-sucking, to the point where I relapsed into alcohol due to the stress. I was having nightmares related to the job, and dealing with a toxic manager who I had to report made it even worse. The workplace itself was in disarray, with mold and a broken-down environment lacking proper AC and heat. Morale was low, with everyone around me complaining about the quality of life. I realized that staying for pay or location in a toxic environment wasn't worth it. I’m now free and considering all my options, even relocating for work. I feel a sense of relief making this choice and am ready to face the challenges ahead without the burden of that draining job.

I just found out that I’m being made redundant from my job at the NHS after four years. It’s a tough situation, and I’m only set to receive four months of redundancy pay. I’ve calculated that I can stretch my savings to survive for about eight months, which gives me a bit of a buffer. However, I’m in a bit of a bind because I can’t take another NHS job for four weeks after my employment ends without losing my redundancy pay. I can look for non-NHS roles right away, but my work is quite niche, although I believe my skills are transferable. At 50 years old, I’m hesitant to pursue a management position, and I’m concerned about age discrimination in the job market, especially with AI becoming more prevalent. I’m contemplating whether it’s wise to only apply for jobs that start after my contract ends to protect my redundancy payout, or if I should start looking for opportunities immediately. I’m feeling a bit lost and would appreciate some advice on whether I’m being unreasonable in my thinking or if I should jump ship as soon as possible. I’ve received some feedback suggesting that having a regular salary is more valuable than redundancy pay, and that it’s easier to secure a job while still employed. Others have emphasized the importance of protecting my family and securing employment quickly. I’m grateful for the support and insights, but I’m also feeling burned out. I have a supportive husband, we’re renting affordably, and I’m currently debt-free, but I know things can change rapidly.

I have been working as an associate software engineer for about 2 years now, and I've recently started looking for a new job. Unfortunately, it's been 2 months of searching without a single interview, despite having referrals. My current company is discussing layoffs in my team, which adds to my urgency to find a new position. I'm using LinkedIn Premium to aid my search and I'm considering investing in other premium services if they could help speed things up. I'm really looking for advice on effective job hunting strategies or platforms that might increase my chances of landing interviews. I've also shared my resume for feedback.

I am currently exploring opportunities to move to Dubai as a software engineer. Initially, I considered traveling on a tourist visa to search for jobs, but I received advice against that approach. Now, I’m seeking recommendations for reputable job consultants in the UAE who can assist me in finding a position. If anyone has had positive experiences or knows of reliable consultants, I would greatly appreciate your insights and stories. Thank you!

I’ve been feeling really anxious about the idea of switching jobs lately. I’m currently considering leaving my position, but the whole job search process is overwhelming me. I find myself worrying about interviews, what if I can’t find a new role, and even if I do, what if I don’t fit in with the new team? It feels like such a huge leap, and I keep second-guessing my decision. I’ve reached out to others who have changed jobs recently to see how they managed their anxiety. I’m curious about tips for preparing for interviews and how to cope with the fear of the unknown. Also, I’m wondering about the job market in my area—how tough is it right now? Are things improving or still challenging? I know that many people go through similar feelings, and I’ve read that applying to multiple places can help ease the pressure. It’s comforting to hear that the fear of not fitting in usually fades with time, and that it’s normal to feel scared before starting a new job. I’m trying to view this as an adventure and an opportunity for growth.
