I graduated from college in 2016 and spent nearly 10 months searching for my first job, going through countless interviews and facing numerous rejections before finally landing a position at Walmart. I worked there for a year while continuing to look for a role in my field. After a year, I secured an entry-level position related to my studies. I was able to move up in that role, but unfortunately lost it in 2020 due to the pandemic. It took me a whole year to find another job during that tough time. Fast forward to 2026, I’ve gained more experience and was able to find a new remote position after about 5 months of job searching. Reflecting on my journey, I feel like the job market was more competitive back when I first graduated compared to today. I understand that the job market is complex and competitive now, but I wonder if others have experienced something similar. I’ve heard that it can be easier to find 'a' job now, but the quality of those jobs may have declined. I’m curious about how others perceive the changes in the job market over the years.

After six months of searching, I finally received and accepted a job offer! I've been on the hunt since February, submitting around 300 applications. I went through four rounds of interviews for a fully remote position, with the final interview being with the VP on July 29. I didn't get any updates on the timeline, so I reached out to the recruiter on August 4. The next day, I was thrilled to hear that the team wanted to extend an offer to me. I'm really excited about this new opportunity, especially because of the amazing benefits they offer. They have an open PTO policy, and the average employee takes about 25 days off each year. On top of that, there are 14 paid public holidays, 4 floating holidays, and I get one Friday off every month dedicated to mental health wellness. That adds up to a total of 55 days of paid time off per year! Plus, they cover the full cost of employee health insurance and provide a $200 monthly stipend for work-from-home expenses.

I completed my final interview for a remote opportunity that I'm really excited about last Wednesday morning. This was the fourth interview, and it was with the VP. Since then, I haven't heard back, and I'm starting to wonder about the appropriate time to follow up with the recruiter for a status update. I understand that they might still be interviewing other candidates, but I wasn't given any timeline on when I could expect to hear back. How long should I wait before reaching out?
