  1. 1

I recently made the decision to leave a permanent technician role that I took after leaving a contract teaching job. The pay was similar, but I quickly realized I wasn't a good fit for the position. Within the first week, I felt overwhelmed, and after a month, I found myself miserable. While the team was great, everyone was struggling, and I ended up doing at least two jobs outside of my own, essentially acting as a personal assistant for my colleagues. I reached out for help and suggested some changes, but nothing improved. I have a semi-serious health condition that worsens with stress, and I felt like I was burning out. Ultimately, I decided to quit and return to teaching, but I struggled with guilt for leaving so soon. Everyone was so nice, which made it harder to walk away, but I realized that my well-being had to come first. It felt more like a venting session than seeking advice, but I needed to share my experience.
