I've been struggling to find employment as a young British adult, and I wanted to share my experience and seek advice. After receiving some valuable feedback on my previous post, I've started to rethink my approach to job searching. Many people mentioned that employers often prioritize experience over qualifications, which is frustrating because I have both. Despite my solid qualifications and experience, I keep facing rejection after getting to the interview stage. I feel confident during interviews, but I still receive rejections. Recently, I applied for a cleaning position at Lidl, which offered a 5am shift for £13 an hour, just 10 hours a week, and I was still turned down. It's disheartening to see that even for low-demand roles, the competition is fierce. I'm 19 years old, just finished my A Levels, and I have a lot of experience and qualifications under my belt. I'm reaching out for any additional advice from those who have been in similar situations or from employers who can shed light on what they look for in candidates. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I’m a 19-year-old male from the UK and I’ve been facing significant challenges in securing employment. Over the past year, I’ve submitted hundreds of applications, but the results have been disheartening. I’ve only managed to land 7 interviews with various companies, including Lidl, Tescos, some independent pubs, and even a cleaning company. Unfortunately, none of these opportunities progressed beyond the interview stage, and I typically receive rejection emails just a couple of days later. After completing my A-levels, I’m eager to find work and I believe I have a solid foundation to offer. My qualifications include a year of service as a Police Cadet where I was awarded 'Volunteer of the Year', GCSEs in Maths and English (grade 4), a Level 2 diploma in Public Services, and foundation qualifications in both retail and construction. Additionally, I hold a Level 3 extended certificate in Sports and Coaching Development and have experience in leafleting and volunteering. I’m actively seeking advice on how to improve my job search and make my CV more effective. I’ve received some feedback suggesting that my CV might be too busy and that I should tailor it more specifically to each job I apply for. I’m determined to refine my approach and hopefully secure a position soon.
