    I recently applied for a job that advertised a pay scale up to $235k, which caught my attention since I'm currently making $175k. I went through the first interview and when the topic of salary came up, I mentioned that I was looking for $195k. To my surprise, they said they could only match my current salary, with no room for negotiation beyond that. I was really taken aback because I thought the job posting was misleading. The recruiter even mentioned that they were struggling to find candidates for this skilled role. It just doesn't make sense to advertise a salary range that you can't actually offer.

    Applied to a Job Feeling Thinking

    I have submitted 53 job applications and received only 1 interview, which is incredibly disheartening. With 12 years of experience in my field and strong professional contacts, I thought I was well-positioned to find a new role. I tailored my resume for each application, and after the first ten submissions, I felt optimistic when I landed that single interview. However, it's been four weeks since that interview, and despite my polite follow-up, I was informed they are still considering other candidates. I know the job market is tough right now, but it's frustrating to feel like I'm hitting a wall despite my efforts. I see others around me struggling as well, and it seems like this has become the new normal.
