I'm feeling really discouraged about my job search as a 16-year-old. I've got some decent experience working in fast food and selling merchandise through my school's leadership program, where I also work concessions at sporting events. Despite this, I've applied to every place hiring in my small town and have faced nothing but rejections. I've even started looking in the next town over, which has a larger population, but I was hesitant to do that because of the longer drive. I really need a job to save up for college, and it's frustrating that no one seems willing to hire me. I'm at a loss for what to do next.

I recently followed up on a job application I submitted for a marketing position at a local tech company. After a week of waiting, I received an email response from the hiring manager. The email was polite but didn't provide much information about the status of my application. It mentioned that they were still in the review process and would get back to me soon. I'm feeling a mix of hope and frustration, as I really want this job but the lack of clarity makes it hard to gauge my chances. I'm considering whether I should continue to follow up or just wait it out a bit longer.

I recently graduated with a degree in accounting from a university in Mexico and I'm currently pursuing a master's in finance. Despite having six years of experience in accounting, I've been applying daily for entry-level and junior positions, but I keep getting rejected. It's disheartening to see that my applications are often turned down within a week. I've been taking courses to enhance my CV and add certifications, but nothing seems to work. I'm worried that once I finish my master's, I might be seen as overqualified for entry-level roles, which could lead to more rejections for senior positions. I'm considering attending job fairs to network, but I'm starting to feel hopeless about finding a job. I'm 24 years old and do not require visa sponsorship, so I'm unsure why I'm facing these challenges.

I’m a 27-year-old with a B.Tech in Electronics & Communication and an MBA specializing in Analytics and Marketing. I've been working in energy policy for a year, and I feel lost in my job search. Currently, I work on projects with the World Bank and the Ministry of Power, which has been an amazing experience, but my salary is only 8 LPA. My father has made it clear that I can only marry my girlfriend once I hit the 12 LPA mark. I’m looking to move to Bengaluru to be with her, but I’ve had no luck finding a job that pays what I need. I’ve sent over 300 LinkedIn notes for referrals, cold-emailed more than 50 people, and applied to 50+ jobs, yet I haven’t received a single callback. I’m targeting roles in energy modeling and ESG, but I’m starting to wonder if these positions are just too rare in Bengaluru or if my one year of experience is holding me back. I’m also considering pivoting to Data Analytics roles since my MBA specialization could help me there. I’d love any advice on how to leverage my experience on my resume or insight into whether I should change my focus entirely. I’m feeling really confused and would appreciate any guidance.

I recently graduated from university in the UK and have been struggling to find a job in finance, particularly in asset management. After applying to numerous roles, I reached the final rounds for two asset management positions but ultimately didn't secure a job. I went on a bit of a spree applying to various roles that seemed interesting and well-paying, which led to an offer from a startup. The pay is good for a recent grad, and the team seems impressive, with co-founders who have relevant experience. However, I'm feeling uncertain about this opportunity. The startup is pre-seed and has raised low single-digit millions, and while they plan to seek another round of funding soon, I know that many startups fail. I worry about where this role could lead me in a year or two, especially if the startup doesn't succeed. Even if it does, I doubt it will provide enough for retirement, so I'm curious about my options after this role. The position involves working with AI, particularly in checking outputs, identifying errors, and improving the system's accuracy. It requires a blend of analytical skills and operational discipline, which I find intriguing. However, the job description mentioned they were looking for someone with 2+ years of experience, and while the salary is higher than most grad roles, it still falls short compared to what I could earn at a larger tech company. I'm at a crossroads, as this is my only job offer. It wasn't what I initially planned, but I feel like I can't afford to be picky. I'm considering whether to accept the offer or to wait for a better opportunity. I would appreciate any advice on the potential career path this role could lead to and whether I should take this chance or hold out for something more aligned with my original goals.

I tracked 147 job applications over the past three months, and I want to share what really made a difference in my response rate. Initially, I sent out 68 applications using a generic resume and only received 4 callbacks. It was clear that I needed to change my approach. I started tailoring my resume for each application—not rewriting it entirely, but making small adjustments by swapping out 3 to 5 lines in the summary, experience, and skills sections to align with keywords from the job postings. This change led to my next 79 applications yielding 14 callbacks, which was a significant improvement. I also noticed that applying within 24 hours of a job posting going live doubled my response rate compared to waiting three days. Additionally, I found that jobs with fewer than 100 applicants on LinkedIn were much more likely to respond. While the idea of tailoring my resume seems obvious, it was tough to stay motivated when I was feeling depressed and exhausted from the job search. However, even these small tweaks made a massive difference in my results.

I left my full-time job over a year ago to dive into entrepreneurship, and things have been progressing well as we reach the traction stage. However, I'm starting to run low on savings since we're bootstrapped. I'm now looking for a part-time job or a founder residency program to help sustain me during this journey. Ideally, I'm seeking opportunities that can provide around 12-14 LPA, and if it's an offline role, I'd prefer to be based in Bangalore. Any guidance or leads would be greatly appreciated!

I was laid off a week and a half ago and have been actively searching for remote job opportunities since then. As the sole income provider for my family, the pressure is on, but as an introvert, I really thrive in environments where communication is mostly written. I enjoyed my previous role in ecommerce because it allowed me to avoid a lot of verbal interactions, with only occasional team meetings. Recently, I applied for a job that I found through an email from Indeed, and to my surprise, I was called the next day for an interview. I have to admit, I only skimmed the job description and saw 'remote,' not realizing that it involved driving to customers' homes for face-to-face sales. Now I'm feeling a bit foolish for not considering the implications of that. The role is commission-based with a daily draw, and I can't shake the feeling that I would be miserable in this position. I worry that if I take this job, I might get stuck and lose the momentum I've built in my job search. I've never worked in a commission-based role before, and I’m concerned that I would end up earning less than my last job while also racking up gas expenses and putting wear and tear on my nearly 20-year-old car. I'm trying to refocus my applications, but it's tough to shake off this unexpected opportunity.

I’ve been feeling really discouraged lately. I applied to 150 jobs in the past week, hoping to land an entry-level position, but I've mostly received rejection emails or no response at all. I also didn’t have any luck with on-campus placement drives. I’m trying to figure out what I might be doing wrong and what I can change to improve my chances of getting shortlisted. If anyone has advice on how to stand out or what I should focus on, I’d really appreciate it.

I recently had a screening interview with Exelon for a position I'm really interested in. It was a one-way interview where I recorded my answers about 15 days ago. Since then, my application has been in review, and I'm starting to feel uncertain about the outcome. I'm not sure if I'm just waiting for a rejection or if there's still hope for moving forward in the hiring process. If anyone has insights into Exelon's hiring timeline or experience, I'd appreciate any advice!

I recently graduated with my Early Childhood Education diploma and started applying for jobs in this understaffed field. I was thrilled to land an interview at a center that aligns perfectly with my values and teaching philosophy. The interview was initially scheduled for Monday, but I received a call just three hours before it was supposed to happen, informing me that the interviewer had to cover for a sick staff member, so we rescheduled for Wednesday. However, today I got another call two hours before the rescheduled interview, and they informed me that the interviewer is sick and won’t be available for the entire week. They promised to call me on Monday to reschedule again. I can't help but feel worried. Are they trying to brush me off? I really wanted this job, and now I’m uncertain about my chances. What adds to my anxiety is that the second call came from a different person, which makes me question the situation. On the bright side, the first call was from the interviewer herself, which makes me think she really is out sick. Has anyone else experienced something similar? I would appreciate any insights or advice on whether I should be concerned about this situation.

I recently found myself in a tough spot after being laid off from my job of over 7 years due to illness. In the past two months, I've sent out around 30 job applications and managed to secure 10 interviews, but unfortunately, I've failed every single one. I can't help but think my quiet demeanor and monotone voice are holding me back. I often feel like my interviews resemble painful online dates, where I struggle to engage and come across as enthusiastic. I also have very few friends and haven't been in a relationship for over a decade, which adds to my anxiety in social situations. I'm reaching out for advice on how to improve my interview skills as a quiet person and succeed in this challenging job market.

I recently applied for a position at Apple, but I just received a notification that my application has been moved to archived status. This usually indicates that the position is no longer available or that they have moved forward with other candidates. I'm feeling a bit discouraged, as I was really excited about the opportunity to work with such an innovative company. I'm now considering my next steps and looking for other job openings in the tech industry.

I recently graduated and have been actively applying for jobs. I've noticed a concerning trend where after I submit an application, recruiters reach out to me for interviews, but they reference completely different positions at different companies. This has happened a few times now, and I'm starting to wonder if it's a red flag. For instance, I applied to a travel agency that seemed legitimate, but the recruiter later invited me to interview for a role at Huayu New Energy, which I've heard might be a scam. It's frustrating to invest time in applications only to find out that the positions may not even be real. I'm curious if anyone else has experienced this and if it could be a legitimate practice or if I should be wary of these situations.

I accepted a government job relying on connections (wasta) a decade ago, and I deeply regret that decision. Over the past four years, I've applied to countless positions—more than 10,000 applications—and faced rejection after rejection. This job did nothing to enhance my employability, and I feel like I've wasted a significant part of my life. I want to share my experience as a cautionary tale: don't make the same mistake I did!

I started my career in 2019 at a consulting firm right after college, earning about $57k annually. I worked hard, trusted my project manager, and believed I could climb the corporate ladder with yearly raises. However, after a conflict with a client, the firm let me go, which devastated me as it was my first termination. By 2024, I was back on the job market, but finding a new job took longer than expected despite my improved resume. I ended up accepting a lower-paying, physically demanding job out of desperation. A month later, I got an interview for a better position with a shorter commute and higher pay. I lied during the interview, claiming I was still on the market, and provided my last pay stub, which hurt my salary negotiation. I was frustrated to discover my coworker at the new job made $20k more than me, despite having the same background. Feeling betrayed, I decided to take control of my career. I started job hopping, lying on my resume, and negotiating higher salaries with each new position. I cleverly ensured that companies paid for any necessary certifications before I started, using those accolades to secure better roles. I've been caught and fired a few times, but my salary has doubled over the years. I now disclose only three positions on my resume, while I've worked for countless companies, sometimes juggling two or three jobs at once. My family and friends think I'm crazy, but I've paid off my debt, upgraded my car, and enjoy a healthy work-life balance. As a consultant, I miss out on benefits like PTO and health insurance, but I've learned to take days off without notice. I’ve adopted the mindset that companies need me more than I need them, and I always have multiple job opportunities lined up if I get laid off.

I was born and raised in Bangladesh and never planned to move, but now I'm facing a tough situation. I had to drop out of O level to support my family, and I've been managing okay until now. With rising costs, I'm struggling to pay for my parents' treatment, which has added a lot of stress. I've been actively dropping resumes on Job Bank and Indeed, but I haven't heard back from any employers. This situation has been so overwhelming that I even had to visit the hospital due to the stress. I'm reaching out for any advice or help on how to improve my job search.

I got laid off in March and have been searching for a job for the past four months. Today, I received a job offer, but it's a significant pay cut of $20,000, bringing my salary down from $75,000 to $55,000. I've been relying on my severance and a part-time gig to get by, but it's becoming increasingly difficult to sustain myself without a full-time income. I've applied to around 100 jobs and only managed to land five interviews, which has been really discouraging. Now, I'm faced with the tough decision of whether to accept this lower-paying job or hold out for something better. The anxiety and uncertainty of being unemployed have taken a toll on me, so seeing an offer after such a long time was a relief. I'm curious if anyone else has taken a pay cut during their job search and how they navigated that experience. How long did you stay in that position before moving on to something better?

I’ve been struggling to find a job for the past four years, and it's becoming really discouraging. I’m 22 years old and have never held a job, not even a part-time one or a summer gig. After graduating high school, I started applying for jobs but never made it past the first round of interviews. I recently completed a six-month HVAC trade school program and graduated, hoping that would help me land a job in that field. I've been applying for HVAC positions as well as other entry-level roles for the last three months since graduation, but I still haven’t had any luck. I feel lost and frustrated, especially since I didn’t go to college due to financial constraints. I really want to work, but it seems like no one is willing to give me a chance.

I recently completed the assessment for an Administrative Assistant position at SGI on Saturday and I'm still waiting to hear back. I'm curious about the experiences of others who have gone through the SGI hiring process. How long did it take for you to receive feedback after your assessment? Did you get an email, a phone call, or a rejection notice? I'm just trying to gauge the typical timeline for this process. Thanks in advance for any insights!
