Feeling overwhelmed by the job search process as a recent grad with a degree in Public Relations. I’ve been trying to apply for jobs, but the pressure to tailor each application is exhausting. I usually manage to submit about 1-4 applications per week, meticulously customizing my resume and cover letter to match the job description and appeal to hiring managers. However, despite my efforts, I haven’t landed any interviews, and I often feel overqualified for roles like fast food, which I've been rejected from multiple times. The advice I find online suggests applying to 2-5 jobs daily, but I struggle to even submit one application some days because I’m busy building my portfolio website or doing DoorDash to make ends meet. It’s frustrating to feel like I’m falling behind while trying to manage my mental health. I’m curious if anyone else has experienced this burnout and how they coped while continuing their job search. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

I’m currently looking for a job and feeling stuck. I’ve successfully shipped some really impressive SaaS products, but for some reason, I can’t seem to land any interviews. I’m reaching out for help because I just need an offer letter to show my family so I can move out of my city. I’ve received some advice about improving my English skills and tailoring my resume, but I’m not sure where I’m lacking. If anyone has tips or can assist me in my job search, I would really appreciate it!

I received a verbal job offer after my interview on the same day, which was exciting. Later that day, I got a written offer via email, but it raised some concerns for me. The email only mentioned my annual salary and didn't specify my hourly rate, which I found odd. Additionally, the start date was marked as TBD, contingent on my response after I resign from my current job. I’m currently employed and hesitant to give my two weeks' notice without a clear, formal offer. The company seems legitimate, but the lack of a formal document to sign and the vague details make me uneasy. I plan to email them back to request a full written offer that includes my hourly rate and a confirmed start date before I make any decisions about my current job.

I've been working at my current job for three years, which is my first professional role since graduating college. Lately, things have taken a turn for the worse. My boss, who is the CEO's son, has been making my life difficult. He recently hired his younger brother for a position above me, even though I've been with the company longer and have more experience. Over the last nine months, I've taken on more responsibilities without any raise in the past 1.5 years, and our mid-year bonuses have been cut for the last two years. This summer, my boss has had us doing tasks that are completely unrelated to our job descriptions, which has been frustrating. I'm planning to start looking for a new job, but I'm unsure how long it will take—could be anywhere from one month to six months. Honestly, I don't know if I can mentally handle staying in this job for another six months without losing my sanity. It's starting to affect my mental health negatively. I'm considering the idea of getting fired so I can claim unemployment while I search for a new position. However, I don't want to create a scene or get fired for misconduct, which could jeopardize my unemployment benefits. My current thought is to start making mistakes on purpose, hoping they would let me go for performance issues. I know this isn't the best approach, but I'm feeling stuck.

I recently landed a marketing job that I was really excited about, especially after feeling fed up with my previous employer. However, I've come to realize that I might have been low-balled. I found out that two former employees in the same position were given the title of "manager," while I was designated as an "executive." After reviewing the handover documents and checking their LinkedIn profiles, it's clear that the roles are identical, but the title change seems to have been made to justify a lower salary. I reached out to one of the previous employees to inquire about their salary, so I’m waiting to hear back. While I appreciate the work-life balance, learning opportunities, and the supportive team around me, I can't shake the feeling of being deceived. The workload is quite heavy, and the systems in place are a bit chaotic, which adds to the pressure. I signed the offer and started already, and while the salary is decent for Ireland, I’m torn about whether to keep quiet and be grateful for the job or to address the title and salary alignment either now or in a few months. I’ve received mixed advice from others, with some suggesting I should just focus on the positives and others saying I should bring it up later. It’s a tough decision, and I’m still figuring out the best path forward.

I'm a 17-year-old female looking to gain financial independence by finding a job, but I'm feeling a bit lost in the current job market. I've been watching a lot of content on YouTube that emphasizes how tough it is to find work right now, and I'm seeing my classmates juggling multiple programs while I have only 4 volunteer hours and one afterschool activity to my name. I recently enrolled in a program, but it was towards the end of the school year, so I'm worried about my lack of experience. I'm reaching out for any job search tips or advice on how to navigate this situation. I know that places hiring teenagers often don't require extensive experience, but I'm unsure how to present myself effectively. Any suggestions on where to start or how to highlight my limited experience would be greatly appreciated!

I recently logged into my unemployment account after not receiving any payments for the past two months. To my surprise, I found a letter dated just a day ago regarding a 'Possible overpayment.' I'm confused because I haven't had any income during this time, so I'm not sure why this issue has come up or what steps I should take next. This situation is quite stressful, and I'm hoping to get clarity soon.

I recently received a Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) at Remote Technologies, where I work in a remote role. I'm considering negotiating to keep my unemployment claims undisputed, but I'm unsure about the process. Given that Remote Technologies is a small company without a strong HR department, I'm worried they might struggle to dispute any claims effectively. I've heard mixed things about how aggressive Remote is in dealing with unemployment claims, and I'm looking for advice from anyone who has experience with this situation. Some comments suggest that the company is quite disorganized and has faced issues with employee disputes in the past, which gives me a bit of hope that I won't face too much trouble.

I was recently put on a Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) at my job in Colorado, and to my surprise, management asked me to write my own PIP. I'm feeling a bit anxious about this because I want to make sure I don't inadvertently sabotage myself. I know I can't claim that the PIP I create is unreasonable, but I also don't want to make it too easy, as that might lead to it being rejected. I'm considering asking my employer for input on what performance benchmarks should be included and how I can achieve them. I hope that by incorporating their suggestions, I can create a plan that meets their expectations while also giving me a fair chance to improve.

I recently completed my final interviews for two roles and I'm now in that anxious waiting period. I'm really curious about how long it typically takes for companies to extend an offer after the final interview. I've heard from others that it can vary, but I'm hoping for some encouragement as I wait. I know that every day that passes can feel like a setback, so I'm trying to stay positive. If anyone has insights or experiences to share about their timelines, I would really appreciate it!

I recently applied for a research position at Mass General Brigham, but my application seems to have vanished without a trace. I hold a bachelor's degree in biochemistry and a master's in Pharmacology, and I'm currently finishing another master's in Animal and Vet Science, focusing on a neuroscience research project. My skills include various laboratory techniques such as western blotting, RNA/DNA and protein extraction, RT-qPCR, and more. I've conducted these assays independently in academic research labs, relying on my understanding of the biochemical principles involved. Despite my extensive training and having applied to over 100 research assistant and associate roles in both academia and industry, I’ve received very few responses—mostly rejections or complete silence. It's disheartening, especially when I put effort into tailoring my cover letters to highlight my qualifications and the value I could bring to each institution. I’ve noticed that some job postings remain active or get reposted even after I’ve applied, which makes me wonder if they are ghost jobs. Is this a common experience for others in the field? I’m also an international applicant with work authorization through my green card application, which adds another layer of complexity. Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated!

I've been actively job searching and found myself losing track of the various applications I've submitted. It's frustrating to forget which version of my résumé I used or the specifics of each application. I'm curious how others manage this process. Do you have a system in place to track your applications, or do you just rely on memory? I think I need a better way to organize my job search.

I’m currently struggling to hold down a job after being fired from a management position I truly loved. I was let go for filling out paperwork incorrectly; I knew I was doing it wrong but thought it was acceptable since others were doing it too. It was a rookie mistake, and I’ve learned from it. Since then, life has thrown a lot at me. I’ve been robbed, dumped, and had to work over 50 hours a week just to afford my flat, which I’ve now moved out of. I’ve also faced the heartbreak of losing my unborn child. Now, I’m back living with my mum and brother, and I can’t seem to keep a job. I often panic at night and have run away from jobs, even no-showing today. I turned off my phone and drove over 100 miles just to escape the anxiety. I’ve made excuses like saying I didn’t see the rota, but I know I’ll face consequences. Living with my family has been tough; they try to wake me up for shifts even after I’ve asked them not to, which ruins my day and triggers my anxiety. When I lived alone, I could manage my schedule better. Now, with constant noise and disruptions, I’m overwhelmed. I used to handle 40-hour work weeks, but now I struggle with even 30 hours and 8-hour shifts. I feel burnt out and don’t understand why this is happening. I thought I had grown out of this anxiety. I can’t move out again right now because I came home to recover from the burnout of the last two years and to pursue traveling. I really need to figure out what’s wrong with me.

I was approved for unemployment at the beginning of June after being fired from my job in Indiana. My former employer has appealed the decision, and I'm feeling pretty anxious about the whole situation. To give you some context, I had been dealing with harassment from a coworker for about a year. In May, I finally snapped and told her to 'stop and grow up' after she baited me into a response. She had even mentioned having a taser, which I reported to HR. Instead of addressing the harassment, my boss gave me a write-up claiming that I created distrust among employees and had the intent to get people in trouble. I was shocked and almost refused to sign the write-up, but I didn't want to risk any consequences, so I signed it. Ultimately, I was fired for what they claimed was my behavior, despite having no prior issues documented. The write-up for wearing an earbud was my only other infraction. Now, my former employer is appealing my unemployment claim, but I believe they lack sufficient proof to justify my termination. I've submitted the two write-ups, along with evidence showing that my coworker was discouraged from reporting the taser comment, and HR reports documenting the bullying I faced. I'm really unsure about what to expect next. I've heard that the agent from Experian might come with a lot of proof, but if they couldn't provide enough evidence the first time, I'm hoping they won't be able to do so now. I just need some advice on how this process typically goes and what I should prepare for.

I work in the entertainment industry in Pennsylvania, and I've been facing a frustrating situation with unemployment benefits. Over the past couple of years, my equipment rentals—essential for my job—have started to generate more income than my actual employment. This has led to my unemployment claims being denied, which feels quite unfair given that I can't rent out my equipment unless I'm working. I'm reaching out to see if anyone has suggestions on how to navigate this issue. It's been a challenging time, and I appreciate any advice!

I recently found myself in a challenging situation at my company, where I've worked for 8 years. I was informed that I would need to relocate from Texas to New York or accept a severance package. They offered $10,000 for relocation, but given that I'm 7 months pregnant and due for maternity leave in September, I feel cornered by this decision. It's frustrating because they claim this decision isn't related to my performance, yet the timing feels incredibly unfair. I have deferred compensation set to pay out over the next five years, including an award that vests in January 2027, and I'm also expecting a significant annual bonus in March 2026. I'm seeking advice on how to negotiate my severance package. Ideally, I want to propose that I remain employed through my maternity leave, which I believe is covered by short-term disability insurance, and then negotiate a severance on top of that. Since my husband provides our health insurance, the company won't have to worry about that expense. However, I know that finding a new job will be tough until after the holidays and my baby arrives. I'm considering reaching out to a lawyer for guidance, as I want to ensure I handle this correctly. Any advice on how to approach the negotiation or what to ask for would be greatly appreciated.

I recently interviewed with a smaller ad agency and came across their Glassdoor reviews, which raised some concerns. They only have four reviews total: two 1-star and two 2-star ratings. I'm trying to gauge whether this is a red flag for the company. So far, my experience with them has been positive, and I appreciate the local aspect of the agency. However, I’m hesitant to leave my current job at a large, well-known agency that has been secretly laying off employees. The job market is tough right now, and I want to make a well-informed decision.

I am preparing for my unemployment appeal after being terminated from a non-profit company where I worked for over 12 years. My situation has become quite distressing. In the last six months, I faced multiple write-ups and a suspension without pay, eventually leading to my termination. The reasons cited for my termination were based on fabricated claims and rules that were never enforced before. I noticed a significant shift in the workplace culture when family members of the administration started taking managerial roles and hiring more relatives, which created a toxic environment. As a non-family member, I was subjected to unfair scheduling practices. When I began to voice my concerns about the inequities, the write-ups began. I was even suspended for leaving work after completing my tasks, which had always been acceptable in my tenure there. Now, I am terrified that during the appeal hearing, they will paint me as a bad employee, despite my long history of dedication. I loved my job until it became intolerable, and I can't believe that after all these years, they would deny my unemployment benefits based on lies. I feel sick about the whole situation, especially since I had hoped to retire from this organization. I’m seeking advice on how to effectively present my case during the hearing, as I truly believe the accusations against me can be easily disproven.

I’ve been reflecting on the reality of unemployment after reading about others who have faced long stretches without a job. Personally, I only have about two months of savings saved up, so the thought of losing my job is pretty daunting. I’m curious how others manage to survive during those tough times. It seems like some people rely on SSI and food stamps, while others have had to sell their houses or take on side gigs and sell belongings just to make ends meet. It’s a bit embarrassing to think about these options, but I know I need to be prepared.

I’m in a tough spot right now at my job. I’m pretty sure I’m going to get fired for refusing to work overtime while my colleagues are clocking out. It feels frustrating to be in this position, and honestly, I’m considering just applying to places like McDonald's or Wendy's if it comes to that. I’ve seen some comments suggesting I should look into unemployment benefits if I do get let go, which is good advice. I’m also in California, and I’ve heard that it might be illegal to fire an hourly employee for refusing overtime, so I’m trying to gather any written documentation just in case. It’s a stressful situation, and I’m not sure what my next steps will be.
